After successful completion of the course, students are able to evaluate the technical and creative possibilities of different camera systems in order to be able to use these tools to produce and document their artistic work according to their own criteria.

The content of the course is the historical development of photography, its technical fundamentals in the analogue as well as in the digital field and how these are to be applied in the design and conception of an image. These goals are not necessarily pursued from the outset, but rather arise in the process.

In the summer semester of 2023, the focus will be on analog photography.  

The photographic and creative process is described and carried out in a practical manner.
This includes the positioning or staging of an object, the lighting and other considerations that lead to a technically correct capture of an image and thus correspond to the artistic context of the respective position.
The will to work independently is required, the results are discussed together.. 

Unfortunately, the course is fully booked for the summer semester 2023!

Classes will be held in German.

In the event of a change in the Corona situation, there may be changes to the format (change to distance-only learning or hybrid formats).

Registration and deregistration:
Please note that there is a waiting list for this VU.
A timely deregistration must therefore be done in time, so that students from the waiting list can move up!
Otherwise a negative evaluation will be made.

Material costs:
Due to the current budgetary situation, there may be minimal material costs.

Active participation is required as well as the willingness to engage in a lively exchange with colleagues!
In addition, photographic tasks are set which serve as a basis for discussion during corrections and presentations.
An exhibition at the end of the semester is targeted and is part of the assessment.

Master's students are given priority for admission.
