Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to detect former factories or production facilities belonging to the aera of industrialization and to investigate the industrial survivals by using scientific research methods.

Subject of course

The search of lost factory buildings or survivals of historical traffic facilities as well the survey of abandoned industrial plants constitute the very content of the practical course. The field studies will be completed by the study of sources and by an introduction in oral history methods.

Teaching methods

Out-door activities like field studies and surface survey as well as recording and photographic documentation.

In-door activities like the study of historic plan material, papers and documents in archives as well as literature investigation.
