After successful completion of the course, students are able to record and evaluate historical urban structures on the basis of monument preservation, architectural, urban planning and spatial planning analyses and to formulate a preservation and development concept on this basis. The aim of the course is to create an awareness of the importance of the history and historical development of (small) urban structures for today's urban planning. This exercise highlights historical and recent transformation processes and, through cooperation with municipalities and planners, shows practice-relevant research areas in the fields of architecture and spatial planning.
