After successful completion of the course, students are able to design architecture on a large scale and use the idea of scaffolding and infill as a guiding methodological principle. Working together in the first phase of the design process trains the ability to work in a team, while individual work focused on a specific area strengthens individual design skills.
What will happen to the listed stadium in Vienna's Prater if Austria can actually afford a "new national stadium"? Will it retain its purpose? Will it become a ruin? Or can it be used as a scaffolding into which new uses can be inserted? In the first part, we will look at different future scenarios for the stadium and its surroundings (group work) and then work out small sections in detail (individual work). The general theme is working with scaffolding and infill; the examination of different scales from the large to the small; and the consideration of time and genius loci.
