Nach positiver Absolvierung der Lehrveranstaltung sind Studierende in der Lage mit der Geschichte von Matera und seiner Veränderung im letzten Jahrhundert durch den Aufstieg der Wallfahrt und des Tourismus vertraut. Dank verschiedener Besichtigungen und einer Aufgabe mit Space Caviar werden sie das Projekt der Kulturhauptstadt verstehen und wie es die Art und Weise verändert hat, wie die temporären Bewohner der Stadt mit den ständigen Bewohnern interagieren.

Travel has to be organized independently!
Accommodation is paid for individually but will be organised by the school.

Programm:
18.3 arrive on own to Matera.
(flights from Vienna to Bari + bus from Bari / flight from Vienna to Naples + bus from Naples airport to Matera)
 
19.3
Tour with Space Caviar team - head of Matera Capital of Culture project.
Tour the town and the various sites involved in the project and hear about the process of working with the city and how it has shaped practices of tourism — between permanent and temporary dwellers in the city.
 
20.3
Visit the stone quarries around Matera and the dwelling caves around the city with Space Caviar. Learn about how the heritage of cave-dwelling shaped the tourist industry in the city.
 
21.3
Assignment on own in the city and review with Joseph Grima from Space Caviar.
