to view the built environment with higher perceptual sensitivity to architectural aspects.

Students are going to prepare and analyze buildings on-site and will perceive buildings in the context of their creation, their socio-economic, urban and/or structural conditions and view them with a different, expanded perspective. In this way, a connection between theory and built reality can be established and architecture at the respective destination is better understood.

Belgium // Feb. 9th to 15th, 2024

With its special approach to building, Belgium has developed into an interesting, multi-layered destination for current architectural discourse in recent decades. We will explore this as part of an excursion to contemporary architecture in Flanders with a focus on structurally challenging buildings. The excursion starts and ends in Brussels and will cover several cities like Brussels, Antwerp, Ghent, Oostende
