After successful completion of the course, students are able to read the logics of Berlin´s urban scapes as well as to understand the contextual relations of architectonic reference projects in the city.

The Berlin excursion will take us to places relevant to urban development that make the city's major transformation process visible. In addition to visiting and analyzing the project sites, the focus will be on visiting a number of selected architectural projects that have a thematic proximity to the design studio Odd Lots: Vienna/Berlin. Local experts (planners, TU Berlin, city administration...) will give insight into their work on site.

The excursion will take place in Berlin from 23rd to 26th of october from 9am to 6pm.

In preparation for the excursion, the students research selected reference projects, prepare the research for all participants and present it. During the excursion, the focus is on intensive dialogue with the local actors. At the same time, the architectural research is individually deepened on the basis of specific elements. After the excursion, the results of this research will be processed as readers and used as a design tool.

oral and written - the quality of the following performance components will be assessed:

- Analysis and preparation of selected reference projects prior to the excursion: drawing analysis, plans, visual material. Summary compilation as a reader

- Presentation of the analysis on site in the form of papers

- active participation in guided tours and discussions with local experts on site

- drawing and photographic recording and analysis of relevant individually selected architectural elements on site

- processing of the element research after the excursion, digitalization of the drawings, compilation into a clear reader
