Subject of course

Trieste città aperta - The University Incubator Trieste

is a branch of the University of Trieste and serves as an incubator for clean and sustainable urban solutions. Universities help young students to transform their business ideas into a future-oriented startup focused on solving the challenges of modern cities. The aim is to turn innovations into successful, international companies. UIT becomes part of Trieste's vibrant startup ecosystem, with partners- companies and investors looking for sustainable urban solutions. Early-stage startup incubation programs and a pre-incubation program offer ongoing workshops, consultation hours, networking events and community building activities for sustainable construction, smart mobility, clean energy, circular economy and waste management teams to support local businesses to advance their business. Members enjoy subsidized office space at a reduced price, making a workspace affordable for early startups. The central location in the city guarantees proximity to entrepreneurship experts and professors at the university, regular opportunities for feedback, pitch exercises and problem-solving sessions.

The location close to the city center emphasizes the architect's intention to deal intensively with the environment: spaces and concepts should deal with the existing urban fabric in order to restore, reconstruct, repair and complement it. The measures will be aimed at carefully supplementing damaged or lost urban structures in terms of functional structure, figuration, proportion, spatial effect and external appearance. The aim is the further development of the urban structure while critically appraising the historical findings and current requirements.
