After successful completion of the course, students are able to critically engage with the non-places emerging as "voids" in the context of modernization and globalization and to discover, explore and illuminate their possible potential cinematically within a change of perspective.
The basis for this course is the essay "Places and Non-places" by Marc Augé. The development of the content is followed by a practical examination of non-places in our urban environment. The goal is an independent cinematic examination of the conditions and development possibilities that these spaces offer us. Non-places should not be thought of experimentally through their so-called lack, but through their otherness/difference to other places.
Joint development and discussion of the topic, introduction to different cinematic approaches and the use of cinematic means (image, sound, montage), development of a short concept and implementation proposal, film production with discussion of interim results.
Final presentation and discussion of the videoproduction.
