After successful completion of the course, students are able to name the advantages of the integral planning method. Furthermore, students are able to describe the approach to a planning task from the perspective of civil engineering.
Interdisciplinary Student Design & Engineering Challenge - ISDEC 2030
Now in its second year, the "Interdisciplinary Student Design & Engineering Challenge - ISDEC2030" will take place in the summer semester of 2022. In interdisciplinary collaboration, architecture and civil engineering students dedicate themselves to the joint development of innovative and sustainable solutions for the building industry. Based on the UN action plan "Transforming our world: The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development" and the "European Green Deal", the tasks and results sought are related to the respective Sustainable Development Goals. Accordingly, the focus of the tasks and sought solutions in ISDEC2030 is on realization of "Circular Construction".
Topic ISDEC 2030
CIRCULAR SPIRE
Task
A multifunctional office and commercial building is to be constructed on the prominent site of DC Tower 2 on the Donauplatte in Vienna's 22nd district. The goal is to develop a circular high-rise concept that places the highest demands on sustainability, resource efficiency and flexibility and can still be implemented profitably.

Joint development of the planning tasks of a realistic project from the field of civil engineering.
The interdisciplinary working method in teams with engineers and architects is in the foreground and is also intensively supervised as such on the part of the Institutes of Building Science, the Institute of Interdisciplinary Construction Process Management - FB Integrale Bauplanung und Industriebau.
Students from the fields of architecture and civil engineering develop interdisciplinary designs with intensive supervision. In interdisciplinary collaboration, Arch+Ing teams are dedicated to the joint development of innovative and sustainable solutions related to the 2030 Agenda.
Information for ISDCE 2030 please email to maximilian.knoll@tuwien.ac.at
The project can be completed only as a group work - project work for civil engineers and grand design for architects.
Interdisciplinary teams: architects + civil engineers are mandatory to participate in the competition "ISDCE2030"! Motivation for team building is the competition!
Team building will take place in the course of the exercise during the kick-off workshops.
Collaboration, presentations, posters, active participation in corrections, submission folder.
