1) discuss endogenous and exogenous obstacles of development and tackle problems of urban and regional and environmental development in countries of the global South scientifically
2) understand interrelations between globalisation and problematic conditions for development
3) define challenges of sustainable urban and regional development and ultimately of the quality of life.
4) assess development policy strategies, measures, instruments and urban projects of the development co-operation on the part of private, communal, regional, national and international agents (institutions, firms and initiatives from the people) critically
5) enter the occupational fields of the international development co-operation in urban and regional development, in urban design and planning
1) Discussion and determinants of urban and regional development problems and disparities of wealth between Northern and Southern hemisphere
2) Development policy aims, strategies, instruments and institutions of local, regional, national and international agents concerning questions on globalisation
3) Description and explanation of the urbanisation processes and their impacts on sustainable development (especially in the larger cities of the global South)
4) DIscussion of the function and morphology of the urbanisation process and of distinct building objects as well as of relevant questions concerning planning at different scale levels
5) Practical challenges, procedural methods and case examples (good practice) of an integrated regional development understanding
6) Urban and Regional planning in in fast growing urban agglomerations
Methods of teaching are varying:
- in the Ring-Lecture: understanding discussing of global topics and local problems;
- in both VUs (Practice-Lectures): elaborating and embedding local projects in critical and integrative way;
- in Seminar: structuring and assessing complex development trends ans problems of urban/regional development

Individual or group performances are assessed according to students' ability to develop integrated understanding and presenting their own ideas in discussions, posters and working papers.
