After successful completion of the course, students are able to examine central topics in architectural design from different angles, to critically question and expand design strategies, and to achieve new results in architectural design by entering a different medium.
Example from previous semesters:Interview with Ila Beka and Louise Lemoine: https://cba.fro.at/489155Interview with Katja Schechnter: https://cba.fro.at/543746
Artists as well as architects have developed their own repertoire of tools and methods to be able to express their work. The entry into the digital age has brought a wealth of new design tools and display methods with it.. The course explores how different (new) media / technologies influence the design process, construction and choice of materials, the appearance and the way of life.
Research, interview, conception and production of a radio broadcast.
In the VU 'Mediated Architecture' you will produce a radio programme for Radio Spaceuriosity on Radio Orange 94.0. For this you will research the 'essentials' in relation to current and future topics concerning our environment, sustainability and humanity. Among other things, the questions include: What kind of future do we want to create? What role(s) does architecture have in which context? What can / must architecture offer? What can we learn from other disciplines for contemporary architecture? What visions are there and where do they lead? And what can / must we learn from the past for future projects?
Students choose an interviewpartner according to a topic of interest, in coordination with the lecturers. Input on preparing and conducting the interviews, as well as conceptional strategies and knowhow on production of soundfiles is provided. Selected contributions will be broadcasted via Radio Orange.
