After successful completion of the course, students are able to design a residential building in a special location.

Theme:

The ecological and sustainable premise for Wiener Wohnen to seal new areas as little as possible and the general development on the property market make urban reserve and remaining areas, as well as building land formerly under-utilized, increasingly interesting for additional housing developments in the metropolis of Vienna.

The highly structured residential complex of the municipality of Vienna in Simmering, Muhrhoferweg, built from prefabricated parts in 1971-72 and recently thermally and structurally refurbished, forms horseshoe-shaped courtyards that are protected from the main wind direction and facing away from the busy street. The parking spaces are housed in two-story parking pallets along Etrichstrasse.

Task:

In the area between the street and the existing development, residential buildings should be planned instead of the park pallet. A residential development is also to be situated in the parking lot of the neighboring fast food restaurant, so that an additional new residential zone complements the existing settlement along the street.
