After successful completion of the course, students are able to critically deal with new learning structures and to question their requirements for architecture: Necessity - sense - added value.
What can the built environment achieve? Which aspects have to be taken into account?
Learning today - which urban/spatial configurations are necessary?
Materiality and technical requirements?
Content-related examination of the topic and implementation in a concrete architectural project.
UNIVER-CITY Structures
The aim of the design is the development of a university institution (structure) in a concrete location in the urban space of Paris.
"32,000 students and teachers at the Free University of Vincennes after May 1968. Teaching around the clock, free access without special aptitude, philosophy and urbanism are discussed. International personalities from science, research and art take part. The university ends 12 years later. In 3 days, the students are evacuated and all buildings are demolished. Today there are no traces."
What does university look like today? Is learning still necessary? If so, how and where, under what conditions? What role is given to the spatial environment? What possibilities does it offer?
