After successful completion of the course, students are able to effectively put refined design and presentation skills as well as constructive, conceptual thinking to use. They can develop, refine and present design concepts with great competence and are able to appreciate synchronously different aspects of architecture and housing.
The project [transitions], conceived by architect Sascha Bradic within the framework of design at the Research Department of Housing and Design, includes an architectural workshop with the participation of well-known international architects, a study trip, an accompanying series of lectures, an exhibition of all projects and the production of a catalogue. Students from the Vienna University of Technology, the Universita IUAV from Venice and the Academy of Fine Arts from Munich as well as other international guests will be hosted in Rovinj / Istria in September. The invited architects will work with the students as lecturers and guest critics on new concepts and architectural models for the region of Istria.
The [übergänge] programme is about a new strategic development and spatial-functional aspects of living, working, tourism, leisure and culture. Defining the space in between through new programmatic density by means of new architectural models is one of the main goals of this project. It is not, of course, an idea of preserving the everyday idyll, but rather a well thought-out strategy that must redefine the space to be recreated and the protected zones as a spatial reserve. We believe that a strategy for the development of the valuable and beautiful Istrian ensembles must be initiated immediately, which includes the use and redefinition of the space according to today's way of life, with as few negative sub-defects as possible.
