After successful completion of the course, students are able to:
Experimental development of a pavilion-like spatial structure (free-standing, lightweight building) with self supporting / interlocking structural elements, which enables multiple (at least two) different spatial and functional configurations.
Students will design and evaluate structural variants for their envisioned spatial design using physical models as well as relevant software. The ad-hoc-design studio 259.596 is integrated to this design studio and teaches the relevant tools. (> Dates for Inputworkshop 1 and 2)
Students will work on their own project ideas and will be tutored by an interdisciplinary team.
Combination of individual work and team work: The first task and its presentation takes place as individual work: Development of an independent experimental design approach. After the concept presentation and the discussion of the design approaches, teams of 2 -4 students can work together. The aim here is to expand the possibilities for discussion. Following the intermediate presentation, selected projects may be detailed in such an extent that a realisation is possible.
Immanent. Grading including the individual performances.
Basic knowledge of Rhino, Grashopper, Caramba is an advantage but not necessary. An extended knowledge is gained within the semester in the frame of the ad-hoc-design studio 259.596. (> Dates for Inputworkshop 1 and 2)
