Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to record selected residential buildings and their planning processes in their complexity by means of "on-site" surveys and interaction with different actors (eg architects, property developers, residents, etc.) to be able to generate own discussion and planning competence in the field of residential construction.

Subject of course

Wiener Wohnbau stands for a wide range of achievements, typologies and innovations. LIVING: ON SITE is to provide on the basis of "on-site" visits to exemplary projects immediate insight into the complexity of planning and implementation opportunities in housing. The inspections of the objects as well as the confrontation with different actors form the common framework: The participating architects give an insight into the history of development and implementation of the individual projects - from the competition to the realization. Other participants such as residents, property developers, etc. reflect the qualities of use, participation processes or convey wishes for future planning tasks. These parameters are intended to sharpen the students' own view and to create input for their own design and solution strategies in the area of residential construction.

Teaching methods

The individual "On Site" appointments are prepared by students using short assignments, basic analyzes, interview questions, etc. The on-site inspections and accompanying lectures, talks and interviews deepen the discussion.
