Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to have a look insight into a region with dynamic changes in architecture and spatial planning and also to discuss the handling of these processes. A series of lectures will provide an overview of recent research by scientists on different aspects of the built environment, but also on social and cultural aspects of the diverse country. Basic concepts in Chinese planning and spatial theory (and practice) are provided through targeted insights into the Chinese Architectural, art, cultural, and social history given to get an introduction to the planning and design principles in Chinese architecture. With an introduction to recent and traditional intelligent materials and technologies, the technical aspects of architecture in China are conveyed. The module includes lectures, scientific discussions and exercises. Great emphasis is placed on the active participation of students.

Subject of course

Eine Vorlesungsreihe bietet einen Überblick über aktuelle Forschungen von Wissenschaftern unterschiedlicher zu verschiedenen Aspekten der gebauten Umwelt, aber auch zu sozialen und Kulturellen Aspekten des vielfältigen Landes.

Grundlegende Konzepte in der chinesischen Planungs- und Raumtheorie (und –praxis) werden durch gezielte Einblicke in die chinesische Architektur- , Kunst-, Kultur-, und Gesellschaftsgeschichte gegeben, um eine Einführung in die Planungs- und Entwurfsgrundlagen in der chinesischen Architektur zu erhalten.

Mit einer Einführung in rezente und traditionelle Materialien und Technologien werden die technischen Aspekte der Architektur in China vermittelt.

Teaching methods

This is necessary to be able to achieve the content-related aspects and educational goals accordingly. As performance assessments, different types of examinations (written / oral), assignments or deliverables, as well as the corresponding presentation of findings, will be used in the different subject applied.
