The aim of the design is the development of sustainable and earthquake-proof concepts with clay and straw for the current rural housing construction in Iran.Within the framework of the design, traditional and contemporaneous clay architecture is examined. The subsequent design focuses on the development and integration of new techniques, which can increase the acceptance of earth building as well as guarantee earthquake resistance. From an urban perspective, interventions to revitalize the villages destroyed and destroyed by earthquakes are relevant in Iran. This is shown by the example of Esfahk. The rural structure of Esfahak is to be explored, localized and exemplified for the regional cultural area.
In the course of the excursion to Iran, as well as in Iran (Feb.17 - March 3, including a clay building workshop), clay buildings are inspected and documented for the design course following. Within the scope of this excursion, insights into the building culture of the Iran, as well as a better understanding of building with clay, are given in general:LVA 270.093 Excursion to building construction and constructive design, 2017W, EX, 2 STD, 3 ETCS) The content of the design course is the design of a mud house for the less densely populated residential areas around the large cities of Iran. The classical clay building and traditional houses are to be reflected and further developed for current use - both - in design and technical. The results of the design course will be shared with the partner universities of the Vienna University of Technology, which are visited during the course of the excursion, as well as the training center in Esfahk, which is run by Iranian universities.
The course will start on March 16, 10:00, in seminar room 6.
