We are aiming at an examination of the different levels of filmic space.
On the one hand, we are looking at how we can construct space with / within the moving image. On the other hand, we want to examine the space outside the filmstrip - from the invisible sequenziation of the single images and the invisible audio track on the film strip to the projection room of the cinema.
The design class starts with a direct manioulation of the film strip - the filmic material represents a kind of body - with which it is possible to transfer spatiality in an abstract way. By that, one can argue that the enactment of the image - the projection, the monitor etc. - needs a spatial construction or a three-dimensional arrangment. Analogue film, application of (digital) production techniques. Conception and realization of a projection on-site.
