Applying algorithms in architecture:
Define planning rules Generate solutions Exploration of (in) possible variations
Learn to use digital tools (e.g.: Grasshopper) and get to know their potential for planning
Relevant topics in planning (which were already mentioned in the lecture Themengebiete der algorithmischen Planung und Analyse) will be discussed in detail. Different Grasshopper definitions, concerning these topics will be developed together.
This course will focus on the automatic generation / anticipation of a complete building as a tool for in depth visualisation of an urban development. Therefor algorithms generating different aspects e.g.urban layout / facade will be developed in groups of two. Each group will either provide or use the output of another group as their input. The generated spatial envoirment will be made accessible via the means of a VR PanoWalk.
To take part in these workshop an own laptop with an up-to-date version of Rhino and Grasshopper3d is needed. A limited amount of Laptops are available at the Department for Building Theory and Design. The first workshop will also be the introduction lecture. After the last workshop individual "DeskCrits" are available put not mandatory.
Please register via the "Modul Algorithmische Planung und Analyse". If you want to take part only in the course, please register at the introduction lecture.
Compulsory attendance at the workshops and the presentations; The curse will be given in German. Nevertheless if all participants agree, English is also possible.
Each workshop session has an exercise assigned to it. To complete the course, one exercise has to be developed and presented. The Topic can be chosen from the workshop sessions attended. Scripts developed within the other course of the Modul can and should be used to complete the course.
Use Group Registration to register.
