Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to understand the interaction of history, society, technology and regulations as a coherent continuum, the force that shapes architecture. They are able to better understand their own actively shaping role in the larger context of building and even in society as a whole and to act accordingly.

Subject of course

Overview of the history and role of standards and regulations over the centuries and in different regions. Description of the origin, meaning and effect of regulations with regard to society and the technology that is to be regulated in each case. Overview of the anchoring in the legislation. Practice analysis based on selected national and international examples.
