After successful completion of the course, students are able to develop concept solutions for daylighting and artificial lightings. They gain the ability to analyze existing lighting solutions and find out the potential for improvement. They learn to understand the photometric vocabulary and apply it independently in a design.
Daylight: Introduction to daylight planning, effects of skylights and side exposure, distinction between sun and glare protection Light and color: Overview of the lightsources (focus on LED), color rendering, light colors, marking, lifetime, energy efficiency Fundamentals in the application of artificial light, photometric basic quantities, planning parameters for artificial lighting Key factors for lighting solutions in the areas of sales and presentation, museum, office, facades and outdoor areas. Innovations in lighting technology: HCL (Human Centric Lighting) and connected lighting (IOT)
Knowledge transfer based on lectures, discussion of case studies,
Additional: without module RG assignment, additional development ofa lighting solution within the exercise topic
Introduction, 4th October, 2023, 9.00 am HS7 TU Wien

Registration is also possible without the module per Mail
Draft and presentation of the given module topic within the room design module.
For students who only take the VO and UE "Seeing Light", the UE consists of choosing a project in reality, visiting and photographing it (bar, shop, museum, bridge, facade) and zooming in with the to share with others and talk about the lighting solution. (what is special about light, which type, which light colors, which effect, which systems).
Registration will be open only in the application pool
