The methods of "Applied Aesthetics" are conveyed in the framework of the design of a public building, giving special attention to proportion, form, arrangement of the building parts, routing and orientation.
The task is the design of a chosen public building (high-rise building, concert hall, museum, exhibition hall), which has to be developed with special attention to function and construction as well as aesthetic quality. Analogies from nature, art and technology can be used as a formal starting point and adapted for the design through abstraction and transformation. The development of the concept is carried out by means of a working model, which permits checking both the overall composition of the structure (proportion, form and arrangement of the building parts), as well as the quality of the interior space. The formation of the space allocation plan is based on project descriptions, which define the basic principles for the design process. Furthermore, visits to building sites are planned in order to study the functionality of existing examples.Based on these methods, the constructive and aesthetic solution should be prepared by means of structural models and hand sketches within 2-3 weeks. The final plans will be elaborated only after the conceptual completion of the essential requirements of the building task.
