Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to understand the application of concepts of building physics onto building design and construction. Basic principles of building performance evaluation have been trained, e.g. the Austrian building energy certification.

Subject of course

Excercises in building physics: calculations, simulations, measurements, excursions

Teaching methods

  • Application of manual and in-part-IT-supported assessment methods and calculations (hygrothermal performance of Buildings).
  • Application of building energy certification software onto buildings (heating demand, cooling demand, etc.
  • Application of knowledge-based methods for optimization of building design and building constructions from a building-physics point of view.
