After successful completion of the course, students are able to describe and analyse listed monuments and, on this basis evaluate their conversion and conservation measures. The course provides an insight into the practical methods of heritage conservation based onindividual cases.
The conversion of buildings worthy of conservation is a widespread strategy to ensure the continued existence of these properties. Nowadays in particular, more and more actors are involved in conversion measures, thereby shaping not only the genesis of the buildings themselves, but also the urban development of their immediate surroundings. The aim of the course is to introduce students to the topic and to sensitise them to the particular challenges of dealing with sensitising them to the particular challenges of dealing with architectural monuments.
This subject deepens the analysis and evaluation of buildings worthy of conservation based on building tasks and building types as well as their conversion. The different approaches different approaches and strategies in dealing with the historical building stock - from the urban scale and ensembles to individual buildings and the necessary detailed solutions. Building on this, the course teaches how to deal with the challenges of challenges of heritage conservation and deals with maintenance measures, maintenance and refurbishment of buildings worthy of conservation.
Students work in groups to research selected completed reutilisation projects reutilisation projects in archives and libraries.
