After successful completion of the course, students are able to develop a design project according to given tasks and prepare a comprehensive concept as well as a successful artistic design solution while paying respect to the protected historical architectural environment. Students will be able to communicate key ideas and qualities of their concepts.

Topics include:

•Building in Existing Contexts & Contemporary Architecture Redesign Center Kaltenleutgeben, ensemble concept, square design, night design).

Tasks:

-Creation of a criteria catalog -Processing of best-practice examples -Draft for the new conception and revitalization of the center in Kaltenleutgeben

This design studio is about a revitalization and new conception of the center of Kaltenleutgeben. A survey and evaluation of the existing buildings is planned, including the redesign of the central square, and concepts for the revitalization of the center, including additions.


The design begins on October 5 at 10 a.m. in the seminar room of the institute (Gußhausstraße 28, 1st. floor). Further meetings will be Thursday morning 10-13.00

We will start with a comprehensive analyses that adresses issues of cultural heritage, in particular values in architecture, aspects of building preservation, and a discourse analyses. This will be followed by a step by step design phase where the theoretical concept will be transferred into an architectual design.
