to plan a research project in architecture including:
This is a core course of the Modul Cultural Spaces
The UNESCO World Heritage Convention and the associated Operational Guidelines for its implementation apply equally to all sites worldwide. For practical implementation, the respective framework conditions of the country, the region and the cultural environment must be taken into account. In this semester, students will have the unique opportunity to compare the approaches to the management and development of World Heritage sites in Austria and Indonesia. In this course, based on the theoretical and practical exercises during the semester, students can conduct a thought experiment on a project in architecture that aims to bring the World Heritage Convention to the forefront in or for a site. Research questions can be developed for both basic and applied research. The topics range from the further development of addressing specific aspects of the cultural heritage of a region to possible knowledge transfer projects or the development of tools that would facilitate the management of sites in the spirit of the World Heritage Convention.
