After successful completion of the course, students are able to independently formulate a research question and work scientifically.
This includes the critical examination of a given or self-defined research topic, combined with the development of adequate research methods and corresponding hypotheses.
Tools are literature and internet research, library and, if necessary, archive studies, but also on-site visits with photo and drawing documentation and interviews. Practising writing texts in different contexts, the professional preparation of a scientific apparatus with correct application of the citation rules and the preparation of bibliographies are part of the course.
The need for and awareness of multi-religious and multi-cultural spaces has increased strongly in recent years. It is becoming apparent that the corresponding architectures and projects are virtually an interface between spatial innovation and the mediation of national identity concepts.
This is one of the reasons why interreligious buildings and spaces offer the opportunity to go beyond purely architectural and urban planning aspects and to recognise social and political contexts in a very complex way and to analyse various trends in the development of corresponding architecture.
The seminar will explore the concepts of "interreligiosity" and "interculturality" in relation to architecture and space.
At the same time, current projects and trends will be examined for possible aspects of transnational architecture. The focus will be on the question of how the form(s) and use(s) of these buildings and places express the needs of the societies that produced them.
If discontinued by mid-October, the Presence/Hybrid seminar will take place in Seminar Room 251-1: Stiege 3, 3rd floor, and held each Thursday from 10:00-12:00.
