Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to develop a design project according to given tasks and prepare a comprehensive concept as well as a successful artistic design solution. Students will be able to communicate key ideas and qualities of their concepts.

Subject of course

The ensemble of the Fischagut in Weiglsdorf dates back to 1841 and grew until the beginning of the 20th century. For many years most of the protected historical buildings have remained unused. Within a student competion new ideas will be developed to come up with new functions.

Teaching methods

We will start with a comprehensive analyses that adresses issues of cultural heritage, in particular values in architecture, aspects of building preservation, and a discourse analyses. This will be followed by a step by step design phase where the theoretical concept will be transferred into an architectual design.
