Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to develop a design concept based on preconditions (as in a given competition). they will understand the special qulities of wood and will be able to underline the qualities by their architectural design. they will know basic conditions and requrements in school design.

Subject of course

We will design a small model class in the NMS Schönbach in lower austria. This room has to take the function of a library but also as a therapy space for Tomatis treatment. In addition it shouldbe a multi-functional space for the school children.

Teaching methods

We will start with a comprehensive analyses that adresses issues of cultural heritage, in particular values in architecture, aspects of building preservation, and a discourse analyses. This will be followed by a step by step design phase where the theoretical concept will be transferred into an architectual design.
