After successful completion of the course, students are able to deal creatively with historical buildings, because all design work on protected structures requires specific expertise and appropriate strategies. This course offers students the opportunity to study the manifold requirements that are needed to conserve, restore, renovate and administrate a historic monument.
The Villa Imperiale in the immediate vicinity of Pesaro is a wonderful and important architectural witness of the Quattrocento and the Cinquecento in Italy. Its history is linked to the noble families Sforza, della Rovere and Gonzaga. The complex consists of two wings with courtyards and gardens. Creator of the extension of 1528 was the widely known painter, sculptor and architect Gerolamo Genga (1476-1551). Today, the property is owned by descendants of the original owners.
