Cultural Center for Schönbach, Waldviertel
According to the Charta of Venice, the historic monuments of generations of people are imbued with a message from the past, and therefore thy remain to the present day as living witnesses of their age-old traditions. As the art of building continues to develop further it is still important to preserve existing architecture. In order to keep the cultural heritage we need to deepen our knowledge of old techniques and local building traditions as well as historical materials as they have a great potential for contemporary architecture projects.
This design studio focuses on the potential of the historic village of Schönbach. Students are asked to design a cultural center and a cultural hiking path that are dedicated to the cultural heritage of the region. In addition a design competition for the Tomatis class at NMS will be opened.
