Aim of course

All design work on protected structures requires specific expertise and appropriate strategies. This course offers students the opportunity to study the manifold requirements that are needed to conserve, restore, renovate and administrate a historic monument.

Subject of course

This course concerns an office building, which was designed by Giovanni Michelucci for the italian postal company in Florence. Since 2000, the building is partially empty and needs new strategies of appropriate utilisation and integration into the urban surroundings. These strategies should conserve the existing structures, as well as allow new functions.

The course contains a one week stay (31.03.2019 - 06.04.2019) in Florence, Italy.
