Aim of course

All design work on protected structures requires specific expertise and appropriate strategies. This course offers students the opportunity to study the manifold requirements that are needed to conserve, restore, renovate and administrate a historic monument.

Subject of course

This course concerns an abandoned historical builiding, wich was designed by Otto Wagner as a part of the demolished railway station Hauptzollamt. Currently the building is in poor conditions and needs a new appropriate utilisation. Where necessary, designs that are compliant with the principles of monument preservation should be developed. These designs should conserve the existing structures, as well as allow new functions.
