After successful completion of the course, students are able to recapitulate Austria's architectural history during the 19th and 20th centuries, incorporating the cultural, social and political environment and paying special account to "new" tasks in the field of technical and social infrastructure.
Presentation of the development of Austrian architecture from circa 1800 to 2000 on the basis of a division into types of building: Introduction - Military and civilian buildings of rulers and the state - Private representative and residential buildings - Company houses, settlements and terrace housing - Apartment blocks, small and large-scale housing estates - Building for trade and commerce - Locations of services and production - Building for transport systems and technical infrastructure - Hospitals, institutional homes and hotels - Buildings for education and learning - Exhibition buildings - Cultural venues (theatres, music halls, etc.) - religious and memorial structures
The lecture is presented by means of power-point, containing a combination between sometimes historic photographies and technical plans with city maps. The most important hard facts are summarized through the legends of the pictures and plans. Each lecture is started with a short introduction into the building historyof Austria before 1800 and explains the structure of the current lecture.
Before starting the lecture term, a brief summary of each lecture and an extent list of sources is launched via TISS and TUWEL. This overview also contains the necessary explanation of the examination mode and gives all offered options for examination during the upcoming academic year.

The examination is held in written form - currently exclusively ONLINE via TUWEL. For each lecture of the last semester one question of understanding is asked in german language. The answers maybe given in English and my be supported by additional sketches.
The offered examination dates are all after the end of the lecture series (end of January, beginning of February, in March, in May). You can sign in only in offered examination dates. There are no special dates aside nor any special modes ofeered. The ones who did not show up at the exam, but still blocks his slot, will not be taken for the next examination offered.
