Libraries are changing- a new vision for the TU library
We will take a look at the changing functions of libraries: the library as a free educationals public space in the urban fabric. libraries are important spaces for communication, information and social interaction. The function of this particular architectural type seems to undergo a change because of new media, growing commercialisation of knowlegdge vs free access of knowledge. This class is part of the Sondermodul "Bildungslandschaft in Bewegung". Students will visit various libraries in Vienna together with high schools students. The goal is to gain a better understanding of the architectural perception of children. Students are asked to work with the children, to train them in talking about architecture and formulate their architectural preferences in regards to libraries. The goal is to develop a new vision for the redesign of the TU library.
