Aim of course

The design course aims at discussing of the arrangements of workmanlike conservation at the monument as well as creating building projects within historical and listed building constructions.

Subject of course

Following an invitation by Professor Markus Otto (BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg: Planen in Industrie-Folgelandschaften) and Axel Böcker (Denkmalpflege Saar + Werkbund Saar) we will deal with the adaptive reuse of the broadcasting station Europe 1, which is situated in the community of Überherrn-Berus in the Saarland border region. The project is part of several activities within the 2018 anniversery "Sharing Heritage".

The broadcasting station with its avant-garde concrete roof construction has been built by plans of the architect Jean-Francois Guédy in 1954/55. After 60 years in operation the broadcasting station shut down in 2015.

An introduction will be given on March 15th 2018 in SemR 257 at 10 o'clock.
