Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to translate a given spatial program for adaption and enlargement of historic structures into a design that fits the requirements of the care and protection of monuments.

Subject of course

Interpretation and analysis of the building-history; basics of building in a historic structure; implementation of a given spatial programme in a planning idea with respect to the culturally valueable existing structure; development of this idea into a presentable concept (concept jury) and a project ready for competition entry (final jury).

Teaching methods

Mediation of "Building within existing structures" on hands of a design for a realistic project and presentation of this project in front of a jury of experts and clients.
