Soon we will celebrate an important anniversary- since 1919 it was possble for women to enter TU Wien , just like their male colleagues. The beginnings were certainly not very easy- the finacial situation was rather difficult and it still toook a long time for society to accept women as university students.
We will take a close look at the female pioneers and major figures of this time and we will try to find out what student life was like in the 1920s. Our central issue is to understand how education institutes worked in the 1920s, and how the first female students managed to enter first the institutions and than the professional fields.
We will take a look at the situation of the first women entering TU Wien- where did they come from, which faculties were the first to accept women, and what was it like to study in the 1920s?
Wie will take a look at changing ideals in society, changing role models and architectural consequnces that occurred as women were entering the universities. Besides reserach concerning individual biografies we will take a look ath teh changing discourse ineducation and politics with its numerous architectural makres and symbols.
