Aim of course

Communication of academic investigation methods used on monuments. Communication of basic knowledge of historical works of art (above all painting and sculpture using different materials and from different eras) and the methods for their preservation.

Subject of course

Introduction to the methods of investigation, documentation and analysis of historical architectural surfaces (facades, interiors, etc.). Historical source texts, materials science and technology, damage and its causes, possibilities for conservation/restoration, preventive conservation.

Complementary subject in the Module "Monument Preservation"

Introductional lecture on Monday, March 6th 2017, 5:00 p.m. at the Auditorium HS 11 (Main Building, Stairs 3, 2nd floor)
