Topic: The Role of Identity in Modern Architecture Iran/Austria

The students of the LVA "Architecture of the 20th Century and the Present in Iran: Transformations of Modernity" will prepare a poster on modern Iranian architecture from topics already dealt with in the LVA.

The students of the LVA 251.169 will work on short films on Austrian architecture in the World Heritage region Neusiedler See/Fertö.

The poster and the films focus on "Identity as a Construct" and "World Heritage as a Strategy":

How do architects deal with identity and cultural heritage or world heritage in their works? What creative or avant-garde solutions do they come up with to meet the needs of today's and tomorrow's society?

The results will be exhibited in a World Heritage region in Austria in the Architekturraum Burgenland. After an introductory presentation by local experts from Iran and Austria, the posters and films will be shown and explained by the students.

Using concrete examples, we discuss how traditional ideas in architecture can reflect a continuation of architectural history in modern interpretations. 

The excursion will take place on Thursday 07 March 2019 from 08:00 to 18:00.

Students must be present on the opening day from 10:00 to 22:00 and briefly present their films and posters.

The discussions will take place in the respective courses (251.785)
