Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to deliver a scientifically correct mater thesis, diploma thesis or dissertation thesis according to international academic standards within the research fields history of architecture and building archaeology, cultural heritage and cultural heritage management.

Subject of course

The students learn within this private seminary, how to entitle academic papers and how to work out proper research questions. Additionally the senior scientist teaches them, how to formulate and which methods within the field are available. If not yet firm in structuring, citing or listing of references, this course is their last chance to learn it. The students improve their abstracts, their scientific introductions and their conclusions by discussing good examples of the research discipline.

Additionally they leran about the academic code of conduct and how to avoid plagiarism.

Teaching methods

The students with different academic degrees meet monthly within the small group. Before the meetings, they can ask for specific topics, in which they still feel insecure. Obligatory is to bring in detailed questions, which then are discussed in the round of colleagues under moderation of the professor.

If there are no current questions, the professor opens permanent problematic topics like the code of conduct or the question of the copy. Additionally, it is expected that the students attend further public lectures of experts in their particular field of research.
