Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to understand important connections between current and future issues relating to the built environment, discuss them and adopt a position on them. Students are given a sound understanding of the divergent approaches to the term "sustainability" and the different approaches are presented. Through discussions with top-class lecturers and experts from different disciplines, students are encouraged to take a position and develop innovative solution strategies. The consistently interdisciplinary approach enables a "big picture", against the background of which architecture, urban and spatial planning must be negotiated.

Subject of course

The lecture series "Building the Future - Questions of Attitude" is the result of a cooperation between the Faculty of Architecture and Planning/TU Vienna, Architecture - Green Building/FH Campus Vienna and the ÖIAV. The lecture series is dedicated to the different perspectives and approaches that contribute to the design of sustainable and future-proof architecture. Renowned architects, researchers and experts from various disciplines will be invited to present their views and visions of a sustainable (built) environment. The topics range from sustainable architectural and urban planning concepts to future technological developments and social and societal responsibility.
The course aims to provide students with an in-depth understanding of the current challenges and opportunities in relation to a sustainable (built) environment. They are inspired to develop their own positions and formulate critical questions about the future of construction.
