After successful completion of the course, students are able to deal creatively with historical buildings, because all design work on protected structures requires specific expertise and appropriate strategies. This excursion offers students the opportunity to study on the site the manifold requirements that are needed to conserve, restore, renovate and administrate a historic monument.
Excursion
The excursion (06.-10.11.2023, accommodation in Feldkirch) is planned as an independent course.
The students develop general basics for dealing with industrial stock and the textile history of Vorarlberg.
This includes dealing with the textile history and building materials of the Vorarlberg region, topics such as demography, work and population structure as well as culture and customs of the region, as well as discussions with and inputs from local actors serve to deepen the discussion. A visit to the Stadtmuseum in Dornbirn is planned.
In addition, the excursion is a Baukultur study trip through Vorarlberg and Switzerland: numerous converted and renovated objects of industrial architecture are to be visited. It is about dealing with the characteristics of these buildings typical of the time and their preservation in transformation projects.
Students must organise and pay for their own travel to and from the seminar. Accommodation will be organised by the chair, accordingly an excursion fee of 300,- € will be charged.
Travel, inspection and survey, as well as specific reports to condense knowledge about the subject of the excursion
