Aim of course

basic knowledge in research, optional theoretical bachelor thesis

Subject of course

Analysis and documentation of the existing substance, working in archives and libraries, writing a seminar or bachelor paper, public presentation of the results through a short lecture

1. Antique Via Egnatia – most important connection between the Adriatic Sea and Constantinopolis

2. Roman city planning and town houses 2-4 c. AC in Ulpiana, Stobi and Heraclea Lyncestis

3. Early Christian architecture of the region – the basilicas of Ulpiana, Stobi and Heraclea Lyncestis

4. Iustinian II as emperor and reconstruction of the earthquake destroyed towns Ulpiana and Heraclea Lyncestis

8. Legacy of the Ottoman Empire: Public and sacral monumental architecture (mosque-complexes and hammams)

9. Ottoman-Macedonian urban ensembles of the 18t and 19th century – between local artisanship and foreign cultural influences

10. Macedonian Vernacular and Tourism – “Macedonian Village” versus UNESCO World Heritage Site

11. Ethnographic or National Museums in historic residences – a critical observation (Ohrid, Korca, Prishtina)

12. Late 19th, early 20th century town houses between Ottoman and European influence: Korca and Tetovo

13. Konstantinovski and the Yale school of architecture: Skopje and Prishtina examples

14. Rehabilitation of historic bazar quarters: Skopje, Struga, Ohrid and Korca - sustainable concepts?

15. Sufism and the buildings of the Dervish orders on Balkans
