This course is in at least 1 assigned curriculum part of the STEOP.

2023S, SE, 1.5h, 1.5EC, to be held in blocked form

Properties

  • Semester hours: 1.5
  • Credits: 1.5
  • Type: SE Seminar
  • Format: Online

Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to:

  • name and explain various approaches to the realization of membrane architecture
  • analyse and compare examples of the membrane architecture

Subject of course

The lecture focuses on membrane architecture - and the engineering and integration of flexible PV membrane modules for energy generation.

The eccentric design language of membrane construction is also the lecture's content—a differentiated view of different solution approaches to realise membrane architecture. The individual solution approaches are illuminated and analysed using examples. Finally, new technologies of the "membrane façade" (climate envelopes, PV module integration) are compared with conventional buildings.

Teaching methods

Lecture with extensive examples of membrane construction and an exercise which has to be solved individually.

Mode of examination

Written

Additional information

2 Lectures:

  1. Lecture: Methods for designing membrane architecture
  2. Lecture: Software and new technologies for the design of membrane architecture.

This seminar is designed for students who aim for a Masters or Doctoral degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture or Mechanical Engineering.
