A general overview about construction machinery and construction methods ought to enable the students to choose adequate methods for certain conceptual formulations on the basis of technical and economical criteria and to work out elementary cost calculations.
The course shall give an overview about the production process, the means of production and the production costs for construction works. All important machinery will be presented in detail focussing on conditions of use and possibilities of use. For the choice of suitable machinery and methods necessary decision criteria such as performance and costs will be pointed out. A representative choice of calculations examples are prepared for independent studies and may be worked through within the lecture. A.)Construction methods - theoretical basics - earth works - hydraulic engineering - civil engineering - drill and blast techniques - tunnelling - materials transportation - materials processing - materials production - materials application - shuttering, scaffolding and reinforcing auxiliary methods B.) Examples of calculation - site installation - earth works - civil engineering - drill and blast - shuttering, scaffolding and concreting
