Aim of course

This lecture is adressing all students whose professional ambitions reach beyond work in Austria. Even if we are beginning to regard Europe as our "domestic" market today, we still have to learn and respect many aspects of "international" construction inb our daily professional life, also within the European Union.

Subject of course

International projects are mainly managed in English. Sudents learn to co-operate with foreign investors, international clients, EU financing and with special regard to co-operation with neighbouring countries. The lecture will also focus on international management and legal procedures as well as commercial and contractual project administration. Scope Part I: Contents, Basics 1. active participation and presentation at the end of the course (in english or german) The seminar International Construction Project Management deals with the specifics of construction projects on the international market. Graduates from the Vienna University of Technology will increasingly make their career outside Austria or with international firms. To be successful it is important to be familiar with - other legal systems, especially the Anglo-Saxon system - international contracts, especially the FIDIC forms - widely used forms of project organisation, such as the Engineer - important tools and methods in the areas of financing, risk management, securities - regional requirements in transport, insurance, administration and specifics such as climate conditions - foreign trade organisations, export promotion, international institutions - intercultural aspects in the cooperation of international project teams. This is the aim of this seminar. Since English is the language used in international construction project management, the seminar is held in English and/or German. Experts from the business community will present their rich experience. The management of projects according to the FIDIC contract forms (Red Book, Yellow Book etc.) is a focus of this seminar. ICPM is concluding a series of courses given at the ibpm dealing with construction project management and providing a complete survey of all project phases and activities of CPM. The seminar will take place every second year (2018, 2020, ) in eight blocks. At the end of the seminar the students present short summaries of main contents brought into focus.
