The CENTER FOR GEOMETRY AND COPUTATIONAL DESING (GCD) https://gcd.tuwien.ac.at/

organises a symposium on 03.11.2023 at TU Wien, venue Kuppelsaal.

GCD compromises expertise in geometry, geometric computing  and various areas of visual computing, and architectural informatics and architecture. GCD conducts research at the interface of mathematics, computer science and architecture and design and contributes to the education of a new generation to design the innovations of tomorrow.

The symposium is a unique opportunity to learn from world-class experts, draw inspiration and immerse yourself in the world of knowledge. It is an event that promotes science, research and innovation and offers participants a wealth of knowledge that they can use in their respective fields.

Examination modalities

You must meet the following requirements for a positive overall assessment:

Attend GCD Symposium presentations and write a report.

The objective of this assignment is for students to attend at least three (3) technical presentations at the GCD Symposium and then write a report linking the selected presentations in relation to an overarching theme.

  • Presentations: Select at least three (3) technical presentations from the GCD Symposium that pique your interest and fit within a common overarching theme.
  • Participation: actively participate in the selected lectures on-site to develop a deep understanding of the content presented.
  • Research sources: Complement your report by integrating relevant research sources to deepen the topics presented and support your analysis.
  • Opinion: Build your own opinion on the topics covered and integrate it into your report. This can include critical reflections, questions or suggestions.
  • Report length: Your report should be a maximum of three (3) DIN-A4 pages.

Your report should have the following structure:

  1. Introduction: a short introduction explaining the overall theme and your choice of presentations.
  2. Summary of the presentations: A summary of the selected lectures highlighting the most important content and findings.
  3. Linking of the presentations: An analysis of how the presented content is related or complementary to each other in relation to the overarching theme.
  4. Research sources: The integration of relevant research sources to support your analyses.
  5. Opinion: Your personal opinion, critical reflections and questions on the topics covered.
  6. Conclusion: a summary of your findings and conclusions from the presentations and your own analysis.
  7. Bibliography: A list of the sources used.

Deadline: The report must be submitted via TUWEL by 15.12.2023.
